Directions

When we came back from walk, a woman asked me where Aiiku hospital was.

"It's on the other side of the hill."

She gave me a face, and asked me another question.

"Where is Arisgawa park?"

"It's on the other side of the hill."

This park is located right next to the Aiiku hospital, therefore, my answer was the same as the first one, although I could have answered it was next to the hospital. She again gave me a face, and asked me another question.

"Where does this lead to?"

Well, farther from the hospital and the park, I thought. "It leads you to Mita."

"I just followed the street!!"

Uh, hoping you would find the hospital eventually? She started telling me this, very irritated, and repeated the same questions she just asked, again, as if she couldn't believe she was wrong, and my answers were right.

Uh-oh. I shouldn't be involved in this.

I just shrugged my shoulders. I couldn't change geography. She just left, returned to where she came from.

I usually give directions if I were asked, but the way she acted gave me a warning, and I didn't bother. I don't think she would've understood the directions even if I gave her because she was too agitated.

I'm pretty good at directions. So, telling directions is very easy for me, but I do understand this is not the case for the most of people, usually for women. And I bet such people must be aware of that. Don't they think they should be prepared because they're not good at it? If she had a map, she would've been less upset, and I could have pointed the direction for her. She didn't have to wonder around long in the heat...

Cherry blossom sighting at Aoyama Cemetery

Walking around Aoyama Cemetery. It's surreal that cherry blossoms are falling and covering graveyards, and its beauty, ephemeral,  tranquility, everything I don't have enough words to express. And there were white dandelions on the ground. It's very unusual in east Japan. It made me happy to see a couple of flower petals on the loaf of bread I bought before the walk. Ships at a graveyard Old Christianity graveyard 白いタンポポ White dandelion Cherry blossom tunnel Cherry blossom petals on a graveyard Flower petals on a loaf of bread Videos of cherry blossom falling , cherry blossom falling like snow , and the last one .

Bus rider back home

Overheard a conversation between two senior ladies on the bus way back to home from work. One lady said she was worried about her daughter not getting married. "I was worried about her going out when she was young, and was careful not to let her go on date with some boys, but now I regret what I did. If she had more chances of meeting, she would've been married by now." The other lady was telling her that she was embarrassed by her daughter married to a man not from the good family. "Children of my brothers and cousins all married to the people from the good family. My daughter is the only one not married to such a good family. Even my husband's end relatives also married to decent family. I'm so embarrassed." The grass is greener on the other side of the fence. One is not happy about her daughter being single. One is not happy that her daughter doesn't belong to decent family that she can claim to her relatives. Probably both of them were trying to ...
