茗荷のみそ汁

Myoga and its scent tells me the summer is here. And I cook its miso soup, now it's almost a ritual, to recall my grand mother in mother's end. She was a very good cook, and one of the best dishes she cooked was the Myoga miso soup. She passed away before I had a chance to ask her how to cook it. Such a shame.

Maybe because this miso soup is connected to her memories, every time I cook I feel nostalgic. Scent is one of the most powerful stimulation to bring back memories, so called the Proust Effect.

Wonder if my kids will have any of such reminiscence of me...
