五月祭の時に見たけれど、せっかく近所なので、見学に。サグラダファミリア、松本城、東京駅の3点が展示されていた。

この港区郷土資料館は、港区指定有形文化財、旧公衆衛生院を利用していて、東京大学建築学科教授の内田祥三（よしかず）が設計したそうなので、東大とは繋がりがあり、隣の東京大学医科学研究所附属病院も同じ内田氏の設計。東大の安田講堂、本郷キャンパスや駒場キャンパスも同じく、内田ゴシックと呼ばれるスタイルなのだそう。

国立科学博物館 超危険生物展 National Museum of Nature and Science Special Exhibition: Super Dangerous Creatures The Science Behind Ultimate Survival Skills

Took the boys to the museum to check out the special exhibition in Ueno.  

最後の頃に展示があった恙虫病について、小学校唱歌「ふるさと」の２番に出てくる「いかにいます父母　恙なしや友がき」の恙（つつが）が、恙虫のことを指し、病気にならずに元気でいるか、という意味なのだそう。大正の頃に作られた歌だから、この病に倒れる人が多かったのだろう。

National Museum of Nature and Science 国立科学博物館

 Checked out their special exhibition, Mass Extinctions BIG FIVE. Very interesting and amazing to think that we are here now after almost complete wipe outs in the history. 

And we left the museum to have lunch, the boys were happy with their ramen noodle & gyoza pot sticker combo. Then came back to check out the permanent exhibition.

JAXA宇宙航空研究開発機構 筑波宇宙センター

子供の夏休みの自由研究のネタ探しのために訪問。ISSのきぼうの実物大があったり、ロケットの実物大があったり、子供達は大興奮。個人的には過去の宇宙ミッションのポスターが興味深かった。

Gundam Next Future Science Exhibition @Science and Technology Museum

 GUNDAM EVERYWHERE! 

It always amazes me how human bodies are designed and works greatly when I see how hard it is to implement such moves to the machines and robots. 

Kids were hovering the 4-legged robot ride called SR 02, a machine made by a company called Sansei Technologies. It was supposed to walk while carrying the people, though it needed maintenance, The kids watched that they were working on the machine for almost 3 hours. They gave up fixing it after all, and started to let people just get on its seat without moving. My kids were the first to ride. 

They had a stamp rally and we got some GUNDAM scale models to bring back home after completion. It was a fun day! 

大きいお友達も沢山来ていたガンダム展。ファン歴の長そうな方達にも怯まず、ロボットを操作する抽選に勝って、ロボットを走らせたり、ガンダムの手でジャンケンしたり、修理をずーっと見ていたり、おそらくデザイナーさんだったり、プログラマーだったり、製造に関わった人達に臆せず質問したり、飽きることなく観ていたチビ達。閉館時間まで遊べて、スタンプラリーもして、プラモデルをもらって帰りました。

Tokyo Photographic Art Museum

 October 1 is a Tokyo Citizen Day, and some of the museums and parks run by Tokyo government have free admission day. We went to Tokyo Photographic Art Museum in Ebisu, where they had Iwai Toshio's exhibition. The boys love his picture books of "The House with 100 Stories". 

The boys were reluctant to go, but at the end, didn't want to leave because they enjoyed it so much. 

They were so hungry we went to Cafe de Crie, the papa and Guzofski's old hang out at Ebisu Garden Place.

Currency Museum

I've never been to this museum, so took the boys to check out. They were complaining so much about going to this museum, though had so much fun they didn't want t leave easily at the end. No photos allowed after security check, the place was well designed and arranged with playful exhibits for kids.

科学技術館 Science and Technology Museum

 1964年に開館された、昭和の感じ満載の博物館。建て替えの話が出ているので、今のうちに楽しんでおこうと。六芒星が壁一面にあり、これはユダヤの？と思ってしまったけれど、全く関係なし。チビ達はオートバイや自動車、トラックの運転ができる展示に目を輝かせ、メカという、大きな鉄球を運ぶ、これまた大きな仕掛けに大はしゃぎ。ちょうど、『只野工業高校の日常』を読んだところなので、ちょっとワクワク。かつてよく見かけたデータセンターのラックの展示があったり、クレーンでボールをすくう、リアルクレーンゲームがあったり、建物の中心にあるエレベーターの大きさにもびっくりしながら、結構楽しい。

この日はレストランが休業日だったので、お昼には帰ってしまったけれど、また来ましょう。

国立科学博物館 特別展 和食

 古の人々がなにを食べていたのか、今ある野菜のほとんどは外来種であること、食用キノコ、魚介類、海藻の種類の多さ、発酵食品の成り立ちなど、上手くまとめて展示してある。そして、食文化の継承、自給率にももちろん話は繋がるわけだが、最後にあった世界の寿司の写真が面白い。もはや日本だけのものではない。

お昼にお寿司を頂いたのだが、どのセットにもサーモンの握りが載り、鮪尽くしはネギトロを使ったお寿司が半分以上。企業努力の賜物でしょう。すでに江戸前にぎりは高価になってしまったように、時代と共に手に入る食材も変わらざるを得ない。
