Kanpai!

Went to Ginjo Shinshu Matsuri at Yurakucho after work with a co-worker. It's a tasting event of new Ghinjoshu . As a belated Mother’s Day present, my husband picked up and looked after Tonchan for me while I was there. This sake, “ Chokai no Shizuku ” from Tennju in Akita Pref. was a unique one: had a flavor of strawberry! My face was totally red after lots of tasting I forgot to count, and had some chai at Starbucks before heading back to home.

Grass and Soil

母さん知らぬ 草の子を なん千万の 草の子を 土はひとりで 育てます 草があおあお しげったら 土はかくれて しまうのに Children of grass, who don’t know their own mother Thousands of children of grass Soil brings them up all alone Once grass grow thick and lush Soil will be hidden underneath My favorite kid’s TV program has a poem introduction skit from time to time, and this one is on for this month. This poet, Misuzu Kaneko, created tons of those simple, innocent, yet very insightful poems, which are very touching, and sometimes move me to tears. The translation I made here might not be able to deliver the sense and feeling this poet has, but it touched me, especially now that I’m bringing up my own child, the devotion to your own child is enormous, yet the material reward is almost none.

Bye bye!

Since I stopped breast feeding, I was on a diet not to produce milk for the past 5 days, and I lost 2 kilos. Most of it must be water; I had maybe a glass of water a day in total liquid I consumed. Thanks to my husband, those past days aren’t that bad. He kept Tonchan busy during the day, and held her at nights when she wakes up from nightmare. She still shows me “milk” sign language, but I just tell her that she graduated it and she’s a strong girl she doesn’t need it anymore. Whenever she’s sleepy or grumpy, she touches my torso but she stops going down. Amazing. It’s her big, THE first challenge. She should be fine in a week or two.
