Crafted candy class at kindergarten this morning. It's an old school candy art used to be performed and sold on the street in Japan. Since sanitation law enforcement, they are not allowed to make nor sell on the street like they used to, though some shops keep tradition and technique of candy art. Kids watched demonstration, and parents painted face of rabbit candy which each of us could take back home. It was fun and I actually enjoyed coloring part very much. Must check out their shop in Sendagi, called Amezaiku Yoshiwara. The owner travels overseas and demonstrates crafting candies, and shared history and anecdotes such as the popular shape of animals for candy: dogs in UK, cats in France, and birds in US. If you'll have chance, please visit their shop!
