We had soba at our usual place for dinner, which we missed the very sweet omelet she grew up with. I had my duck soba, which was Barbara's favorite, thinking about her on the last day of OBON (a period of ancestors' spirits coming back and spending time with family). I'm grateful that my daughter is back safe after all, we have a roof, we have food to eat, everything looks surreal in these pandemic days, though we're here, on the day of the end of WWII in Japan.
