ベジカレー
Tonchan had fever yesterday, but, as she looked fine, we went to Miri’s. She had vegetable curry for lunch, hung out until her papa came back from his training.

ベーコンチョコレート
Due respect to Kevin Beck and Lee Guzofski, I tried this Bacon Chocolate purchased at Neiman Marcus in Hawaii. It tastes like a chocolate that has crunchy bacon mixed… well, exactly what it is. I'd rather have chocolate and bacon individually….

1歳6ヶ月健康診断
18 months check up today. Weight 9.97 kg, height 79.6cm. She had diarrhea for the past 3 days, and lost some weight. Dr. said she’s perfectly fine. One of the check ups were to see the kid’s brain is working right in connection with body, she was presented a puzzle with a circle, a triangle, and a square to fit in the each shapes. She knew which goes to which, but she tried to squeeze a circle into a triangle… o-oh, twisted gene is right there….
When we finished, Yuuka came for her check up, who’s back from India with her family for brief stay. She’s into kissing, and kissed Tonchan off course.
After lunch at J’s kitchen, went to my office for some more work. Tonchan fell asleep on the way to the office, and I managed to work for about an hour. Said good bye to the people around 16:00, and left for home.

白金
She was up since 5 this morning. The terrible twos started – she’s got temper and couldn’t go back to sleep. Not to wake up the people staying the house, left the home for park with her early in the morning. We wondered around quite a lot, went up and down the street, and had some Tazo chai tea latte at Starbucks in Shirokane.

スポーツセンター
She recovered from fever she had since Fri, went to the Iai tournament in Hamacho sports center from noon. Ton chan didn’t seem enjoying the people in black hakama, but enjoyed the small play room they had.

MoMA STORE
Went Harajuku/Omotesando area with Uncle George and checked out MoMA Store in Omote sando. She liked the desk & chair they have, and started drawing with crayons they had. Pretty store in great location. It’s our new play spot with kids.

Kanpai!
Went to Ginjo Shinshu Matsuri at Yurakucho after work with a co-worker. It's a tasting event of new Ghinjoshu. As a belated Mother’s Day present, my husband picked up and looked after Tonchan for me while I was there.
This sake, “Chokai no Shizuku” from Tennju in Akita Pref. was a unique one: had a flavor of strawberry!
My face was totally red after lots of tasting I forgot to count, and had some chai at Starbucks before heading back to home.

Grass and Soil
母さん知らぬ 草の子を
なん千万の 草の子を
土はひとりで 育てます
草があおあお しげったら
土はかくれて しまうのに
Children of grass, who don’t know their own mother
Thousands of children of grass
Soil brings them up all alone
Once grass grow thick and lush
Soil will be hidden underneath
My favorite kid’s TV program has a poem introduction skit from time to time, and this one is on for this month. This poet, Misuzu Kaneko, created tons of those simple, innocent, yet very insightful poems, which are very touching, and sometimes move me to tears. The translation I made here might not be able to deliver the sense and feeling this poet has, but it touched me, especially now that I’m bringing up my own child, the devotion to your own child is enormous, yet the material reward is almost none.

Bye bye!
Since I stopped breast feeding, I was on a diet not to produce milk for the past 5 days, and I lost 2 kilos. Most of it must be water; I had maybe a glass of water a day in total liquid I consumed.
Thanks to my husband, those past days aren’t that bad. He kept Tonchan busy during the day, and held her at nights when she wakes up from nightmare. She still shows me “milk” sign language, but I just tell her that she graduated it and she’s a strong girl she doesn’t need it anymore. Whenever she’s sleepy or grumpy, she touches my torso but she stops going down. Amazing. It’s her big, THE first challenge. She should be fine in a week or two.

長靴
Today’s purchase. We were wondering at a store, then she found this pair of rain boots, took it by hand and tried on. Perfect size for her.
チュウ
She found this baby doll at a store, and started playing with it. Don’t know if she thought it’s a real baby or not, she started kissing to the doll.

トレイが好き?
Don’t know what’s so great about the aluminum tray, she sits on it on her stomach so many times. Maybe the noise it makes?

LUNCH@CHEZ MATSUO
Nice day today, didn’t want to stay in the office, so we went out for lunch. Turned out it became a business meeting for the new shopping site we’re working on. It’s got lots of potentials!

桜
She’s recovered from chicken pox, and started a new nursery school from Mon, since her international school is on spring break. Beautiful cherry blossom next to her school is in almost full bloom like this photo. They’re very nice about keeping the record what she did during the day, such as diaper change, songs, etc. One thing that bothers me is that they talk baby talk, which we intentionally don’t do at home. Maybe she’ll be exposed to Disney stuff eventually….

ニューマンおじさん
Uncle Newman came over for dinner. Tonchan tried some beer... wait, just a pull tub on the can.
銀座散歩
Nice and warm weather today. Went to Ginza with Jen, and Tonchan took us to walk from Shimbashi to Ginza Matsuya. Had some Tazo Chai Tea Late for break, and continued to Nihombashi. Met up with Ren after his Iai at Mitsukoshi. Bought a new shoes for Tonchan, wondered the food court before coming home for dinner.

BITE MARK
A kid at the same school kissed Tonchan, but too strong and left a bite mark on her cheek….

グズグス
Maybe the Chocolate Olivers she had for lunch, she became grumpy all sudden, and kept crying for good 30 min like this. No matter what I do, she refused me touching her, and just crying, nose running, and slobbering. Almost 1 hour later, finally she started having breast milk and fell asleep.
