Brunch with Lilia and her parents Yamamotos

Went to M House in Ebisu to meet with Lilia, 5 months old baby girl and her parents from Hawaii. Mo couldn't leave her alone the entire time, he was trying to entertain her in his way. Maybe we'll ask them to let us stay at their house in Hawaii some day soon.

Kindergarten's Sports Day

After elementary school & kindergarten's joint sports day, Mo had kindergarten's sports day on this beautiful day. Masami jiji came to join from the night before, and this time, papa was there. Mo was in white team, and it lost at the end. He was not happy but he could finish his part of closing speech. Good job!

Luke's Lobster in Omotesando

Masami jiji wanted lobster rolls, and I went to get them right after they opened the shop at 11am. There was a line of about 20 people already, mostly Asian tourists, judging from their accents and guide books. I bet Tokyo is closer than Maine to them. Wait wasn't bad so much, I could get 5 rolls to go. It tasted almost like the ones in NY we had last summer, difference was the bread, which was softer and fluffier here. Yum!

Lecon de Gout at elementary school

My daughter had "Lecon de Gout", a Class of Taste today at school. Instructor was a chef Namae from L'Effervescence, a French restaurant ranked No. 12 on Asia's Best 50 Restaurants, Michelin 1 star restaurant...!

"Lecon de Gout" is a lecture conducted during the 3rd week of October, "la Semaine du Gout", The Week of Taste, which has been running for 5 years in Japan since introduced by France, which originally started in 1990. If you look at the list of schools with lecturers on the website, it goes on with prestigious restaurants participating. According to this website, total of 129 schools, 330 classes, with approx 8,984 students are joining this class. For NIS parents, they are scheduled on Nov. 20 for G-3.

Theme at the class was to learn 5 tastes: salty, sour, bitter, sweet, and umami. They had samples of salt, rice vinegar, chocolate, sugar, and dashi soup stock. She was very happy that she could eat chocolate at school, publicly. And, she asked if she could go to his restaurant... I would LOVE to go... mmm, we'll see...

Samurai swords

From my kimono instructor as a reward of being a model.

Photo time after the contest

Kimono contest that I had to attend and dress up my boy in 8 min. I could manage finishing within 8 min no problem, but the other people were much better than me, off course, and we didn't win any of the awards. Mo was very upset... Well, now it's over and I can relax.

Cookies from Chris

A damaged mail box delivered. A note attached said the postal service tried their best to recover the damage done during the delivery and they were sorry to present in this condition. Only in Japan. Anyhow, it was cookies from Chris. Luckily the contents weren't damaged. Kids were happy very much. Thank you very much, Chris!

Picnic at Arisugawa Park

Short day at kindergarten today, and we decided to go to Arisugawa Park for lunch after school. Bought some sandwiches and bread after breakfast at The City Bakery, and headed to the park after pick up. Beautiful weather, kids had fun just being with friends. Mo ended with a few scars and bleeding, off course, by slipping on friend's bicycle.
